Professor Patricia Sloper

BA (Nottingham); MA (Nottingham); PhD (Manchester) C.Psychol.

 

Tricia Sloper joined SPRU in 1995 and directed the research of the Children and Families team in the Unit until her retirement in 2010. She led a programme of work on children's participation in services and care-co-ordination / key-working for families of disabled children. Her research transformed the way we think about children as service users and as research participants and has influenced practice in health and social care settings and the conduct of research.

  • The needs of children and young people with chronic illness or disability and their families
  • Psychosocial issues in health, particularly in relation to stress and coping
  • Multi-agency working
  • The implementation of research findings in practice
