NHS Consultancy Services
YHEC’s excellent reputation for project delivery in health economics places us in a strong position to provide consultancy services to support the NHS during the coming period of reform. The July 2010 NHS white paper outlined proposals for major structural changes to the NHS, most notably the introduction of GP commissioning. These changes will be accompanied by a requirement for significant efficiency savings of between £15-20 billion over the next 4-5 years. While the Government has committed to protecting NHS funding, NHS bodies will only be able to enjoy real increases in funding if they achieve productivity gains to release funds to support frontline services.

YHEC can support NHS commissioners and providers to successfully manage change, improve productivity and generate efficiency savings through:
- Economic modelling of the impact of service changes and redesign
- Support and advice in managing QIPP (Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention) programmes to maximise efficiency savings
- Support to healthcare providers through, for example:
- service productivity reviews
- identification of efficiency savings in specialty and service areas
- assessment of performance against clinical quality and outcome standards.
- Support to healthcare commissioners through:
- practical support and advice on needs assessment; contracting with providers; financial management; performance analysis and measurement; developing a long-term strategic vision; and ensuring strategic objectives are met
- support for change management
- support for partnership working with local partners
- advice on governance and accountability arrangements including risk management
- advice on the cost effectiveness and potential savings through adoption of new health technology
